Hello there! My name is Jessie and I believe as humans a driver of emotional and mental wellness is connection, to self and to others. Whether we find connection with individuals, groups, family members, and/or a therapist, our stories deserve to be told and each of us have a need to be seen exactly as we are. Your story matters, all of your experiences, the hills and the valleys and I believe you are truly the expert of yourself. Each of us can benefit from therapy at various times in our lives. One of my passions is the the mental wellness of women, specifically those areas and aspects that have so often been overlooked. My goal as a therapist is to hold space, cultivate safety, and foster hope. Therapy is a space where you can be seen, heard, and known, moving into a place where you can truly flourish. Please note, I hold a Masters of Social Work and I am registered as a Clinical Social Work Associate in the state of Oregon and I work under supervision.
I like to work in women focused areas, with individuals ages 16 to 50 (with some wiggle room). There are many spaces we inhabit as women and various experiences that are unique to us, such as with the perinatal period, the transition into motherhood which has been coined as “matresence”, and woman specific mood and anxiety disorders. Beyond that specificity, I work with areas like life transitions and adjustment, anxiety and mood disorders, loss and grief, and trauma.
Therapy is a collaborative experience and I deeply believe that the therapeutic relationship comes first. Within therapy sessions I lean mostly into person-centered talk therapy, with a focus on strengths and empowerment. It is important to me that therapy fits the individual and I will integrate aspects of various interventions and techniques such as Motivational Interviewing and Psycho-Education, Solution Focused Treatment, Task-Centered approach, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Somatic interventions. I enjoy drawing from Positive Psychology, Psychosocial Development, Attachment Theory, the Empowerment Perspective, and Systems Theory.
